Journal Overview
PELTOS Law Journal (PLJ) is an independent, peer-reviewed, open-access journal published by PELTOS Scholastic Academy Ltd. PLJ is dedicated to publishing original, high-quality scholarship on African law, governance, and jurisprudence. The journal provides a platform for scholars, legal practitioners, jurists, and policymakers to engage critically with the legal challenges and developments shaping the African continent and its diaspora.
PLJ is committed to the highest standards of academic integrity, editorial independence, and open dissemination of knowledge. The journal operates a double-blind peer review process and makes all published content freely available without subscription fees or paywalls.
Aims & Scope
PLJ aims to foster rigorous, original, and socially engaged legal scholarship that contributes to the development of law and legal institutions in Africa. The journal welcomes submissions across a broad range of subject areas, including but not limited to:

Publication Frequency
PLJ publishes two issues per year:
- June Issue — Submissions accepted year-round; deadline for June issue is March 1.
- December Issue — Deadline for December issue is September 1.
Open Access Policy
PLJ is an open-access journal. All published articles are freely available to read, download, and share under the terms of the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0) license. Authors retain copyright of their work. No article processing charges (APCs) are currently applied.
Peer Review Process
PLJ operates a double-blind peer review process. After initial editorial screening, submissions are sent to at least two independent reviewers with expertise in the relevant field. Reviewers are selected based on academic qualifications and subject-matter expertise. The typical review cycle takes 6-8 weeks from submission to first decision.

Indexing & Abstracting
PLJ is preparing for indexing in major databases including Google Scholar, DOAJ, HeinOnline, African Journals Online (AJOL), and Scopus. The journal assigns DOIs to all published articles and deposits metadata with Crossref.

PELTOS Law Journal is published by PELTOS Scholastic Academy Ltd, an independent academic publisher committed to advancing legal education and scholarship in Africa. The publisher ensures editorial independence and does not interfere with editorial decisions.
Journal History
PLJ was founded in 2025 and will publish its inaugural volume in 2027. The journal was established to address the need for a high-quality, independent, open-access platform for African legal scholarship.
